Helping a UK-based acquiring PSP build a custom merchant onboarding system

The Challenge

Our client approached D8 Corporation Outstaff department in 2019 to build a merchant onboarding system from scratch – full KYC and Due Diligence (using predefined automatic scenarios), and consequent data collection about merchants’ activity in their systems. 

In the last decade, our client’s business has grown to over 1700 employees in 19 offices globally, and each one of their team members is passionate about helping thousands of businesses worldwide grow through their next-generation payments platform. To support this rapid growth, our client was rebuilding their acquiring infrastructure and needed a reliable partner to help them. 

Our client chose D8 Corporation due to our prior experience with front-end systems (for example, take a look at the P2P Money transfer app case study or credit screening system case study), our strong technical and subject matter expertise, and excellent references. 

Solution We Offered

We offered Outstaffing Services, using our classic model – providing a dedicated team of experts for a one-off project with a well-defined scope. Given our client’s goals and architectural restrictions into account, a decision was made to use a mix of .NET and .JS technology stacks, to achieve maximum flexibility. We developed a front-end merchant onboarding system that collects merchants’ applications for acquiring services and processes them. 

The implementation team consisted of 6 Engineers (2 Senior, 4 Middle), 2 QA professionals, and a dedicated English-speaking PM from the D8 Corporation side. Our client insisted on using an agile approach with 2-week sprints. However, the project itself had a clear scope and was well-defined in advance. This effective combination of waterfall and agile (watagile?!) allowed fo scope control, while retaining flexibility.
