In 2019, a Nordic Banking group approached D8 Corporation, a trusted partner known for our successful implementation of Tokenization projects, to develop an Issuer Wallet hub. The objective was to create a centralized platform that would connect with VTS and MDES tokenization services, as well as integrate with popular wallet platforms like Google Pay and Apple Pay. This partnership aimed to enhance the banking group’s digital payment capabilities and provide their customers with a seamless and secure payment experience.
Our client chose D8 Corporation due to our excellent reputation in getting things done, our previously completed projects (check out our MCBP case) and historical relationship we have with the bank.
Solution We Offered
We offered Tokenization Platform – our one stop solution for building tokenization projects of any complexity. As a priority, our client wanted to launch Issuer Wallet system first, in order to integrate payments functionality into their mobile banking app. In the second stage, they wanted to expand the system and add distribution to Google Pay and Apple Pay wallets.
Issuer Wallet app
The Issuer Wallet hub developed by D8 Corporation allowed account holders to initiate the tokenization process, enabling them to securely transmit their payment details to the white-label digital wallet, integrated into the bank’s mobile app. This issuer-initiated digitization ensured the security and integrity of the payment information. This protects customers from potential fraud or unauthorized access. The issuer wallet system is built using Visa and Mastercard certified Token Requestor to Token Service Provider (TR-TSP) connectors.
To achieve this, D8 Corporation leveraged the MDES Customer Service API and VTS Lifecycle Management API to provide advanced token control features. These connectors ensure smooth and secure execution of all operation of tokenization cycle. The mobile SDK enabled cardholders to manage their tokens through their banking app. It’s a self-service solution for token lifecycle management. This not only empowered customers to have control over their payment tokens, but also reduced the burden on customer support centers.
Google Pay and Apple Pay integrations
In the second stage of the project, I-TSP integration for Apple Pay and Google Pay was required. We made these integrations using our standard I-TSP connectors. The functionality of Operator GUI encompassed various features such as viewing, suspending, resuming, and deleting tokens. It also provides access to token status history. Operator GUI allowed the bank to perform all these customer service operations from a single interface.
By extending tokenization services to issuing banks, this collaboration between D8 Corporation and the Nordic Banking group leveraged the expertise of both parties to optimize digital payment processes. The Issuer Wallet hub built by D8 Corporation acted as a central hub for tokenization services. It enabled the banking group to offer secure and convenient payment options to their customers through their own mobile app and popular wallet platforms like Google Pay and Apple Pay.
