Launching one of the first Apple Pay integrations in the Baltics

The Challenge

In 2019, our client, a well-known bank in the Baltics, embarked on an exciting journey to prepare for the launch of Apple Pay in Latvia. They recognized the growing popularity and convenience of mobile payment solutions and wanted to provide their customers with the latest technological advancements. That’s where we came in. We have previously worked with this bank on the implementation of the Issuer Wallet project with Visa. That’s why we were the perfect partner to assist them in creating the necessary integrations for Apple Pay.

Solution We Offered

We offered an add-on to the existing Tokenization Platform installation with the Issuer Wallet we did a year earlier for them. This project was a testament to their commitment to staying ahead of the curve in the ever-evolving financial technology landscape. The success of Apple Pay paved the way for future endeavors, and the bank also has plans to implement integration with Google Pay. 

A distinct advantage of the Tokenization Platform is its scalability. In cases like this, no changes to the existing installation are required. We supplied additional interfaces with a binary package, rolled it out as a microservice on Enduro/X middleware. After deployment, it completely updated the system with the new features. Moreover, tokens delivered to Apple Pay can be managed using the same Operator GUI as the one used for the Issuer Wallet. With major credit and debit cards from top banks already on board, Apple Pay is constantly working to expand its list of supported institutions. 

As of June 26th, 2019, Apple Pay is available in Latvia. This means that Visa cardholders in Latvia can now experience the convenience and security of paying with their Apple devices.
